A Mother's Prayer

Lord, give me patience when wee hands
Tug at me with their small demands.
Give me gentle, smiling eyes,
Keep my lips from hasty replies.
Let not weariness, confusion, and noise
Obscure my vision of life's fleeting joys.
So when in the future my house is still,
No bitter memories its silence may fill.

Joy, this is a lovely poem.
And as one who's house is now silent and still, I heartily agree with the sentiments of these words!
Thank you for sharing it :-)

I'm so happy this may have encouraged someone today! I saw this on another mother's refrigerator years ago while we were staying at their house, and it seemed like such a good reminder to me that I copied it down.

I hope your day is blessed!

Gae,

It is such a nice prayer, isn't it? I was thankful to discover it on my friend's refrigerator years ago...we were both young mothers just starting out, and had lots of little ones between us. Motherhood is such a blessing. ♥
